Neurodivergent tests in Ireland: a safe next-step guide
There is no single clinical test for being neurodivergent. An online quiz can help you notice patterns, but it cannot diagnose ADHD, autism, dyslexia or another specific difference and cannot tell you which Irish assessment route is appropriate on its own.
Why one universal test cannot diagnose neurodivergence
Neurodivergence is an umbrella idea rather than one medical condition. ADHD assessment considers attention, impulsivity, activity, development and the effect across settings. Autism assessment considers developmental history, communication, interaction, sensory experience and patterns of behaviour. Dyslexia assessment asks a different educational question about reading, spelling, writing and learning.
A score that combines all of these into one “neurodivergent percentage” is not a recognised Irish diagnosis.
What an online screener can be useful for

- Recording examples from home, school, college or work.
- Deciding which condition-specific information to read.
- Preparing questions for a GP, school or qualified assessor.

What a proper assessment may include
There is no one format for every person, but assessment commonly draws on more than a questionnaire. ADHD Ireland describes clinical interview and personal history, often with information from someone who knows the person well. AsIAm explains that autism diagnosis uses clinical expertise and diagnostic criteria rather than a biological test. Educational psychology assessment considers the referral question, learning history and relevant tasks.
Five checks before using a test website
- Does it clearly say that it is a screener, not a diagnosis?
- Does it identify the specific condition and the source of the questions?
- Does it explain privacy, data retention and whether answers are sold or used for marketing?
- Does it avoid guaranteed conclusions and urgent sales pressure?
- Does it direct you to an appropriate professional rather than selling one automatic package?
Prepare useful notes instead of chasing a perfect score
Write down concrete examples: what happens, where it happens, how long it has been present, how it affects daily life and what already helps. Include relevant school reports, previous assessments and health information when a professional asks for them. Do not upload sensitive records to an unknown quiz site.

Can an online test diagnose neurodivergence?

What should I do with a high screening score?

Can a low score rule out ADHD or autism?
